  11. I sent this directly to Apple, and they recommended that I ask the community.
  12. Anybody want to summarize/warn about localization problems?  How many people
  13. have been through this?  Anything special to watch out for?

  15. We are finishing up our second application in MacApp, and have given it to our
  16. localization team. Our first MacApp application is being translated at this
  17. moment.

  19. 1.  They have complained that some of the alerts are too small to translate
  20. without resizing.  These are the standard MacApp dialogs for handling failures,
  21. mostly.  Have you had this complaint from others?
  22.  
  23. 2.  What about other localization issues we might run into?  MacApp promises
  24. lots, but are there examples of MacApp programs in the more difficult languages
  25. (Japan, Arabic)?  And some of the problems they've run into?

  27. 3.  Have you considered releasing localized versions of MacApp?  This work
  28. currently is repeated by every translator.  We are considering writing a script
  29. that will localize the MacApp portion of an application.  Have you seen
  30. anything like this?

  32. Do you have any type of "Localization Kit" for MacApp?  This is a short
  33. description of tricky things translators might run into, and details as to what
  34. strings are subsituted where.  This would be a great addition.

  36. 4.  Some of our translators have an aversion to ViewEdit.  Do you have a 'view'
  37. template for ResEdit, since they would find this more comfortable?
